Philippine President Presented with Honorary Degree

On Wednesday, Feb. 17, 2016, Philippine President Benigno S. Aquino III became the first sitting head of state to receive an honorary degree from Loyola Marymount University, receiving an Doctor of Humane Letters in a ceremony held in LMU’s Life Sciences Building Auditorium.

The ceremony, on Wednesday, Feb. 17, included remarks by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Rep. Maxine Waters.

The conferral ceremony was co-sponsored by the School of Education’s Teach for the Philippines Program and the World Policy Institute at LMU.
